How to Fish Fish & Creatures

What swims (and fights) in How to Fish: the catch, kill, sell loop and the rare-variant system.

The whole game loop is built on creatures: catch them, kill them, sell them. This hub documents the confirmed systems; individual entries are added only when verified.

The catch → kill → sell system

  • Creatures are caught with your gear and can also be fought with weapons.
  • Selling them pays for better gear, weapons and boat upgrades.
  • Landing a fish does not mean you own it yet — secure it first (a community-verified gotcha).
  • Boss creatures drop meat; trophies are a separate reward.

Rare variants

Officially, the game asks you to “collect the rare variant of all the different fish.” Rare variants are a core endgame-style goal; exact spawn rules are not yet verified.
