Drip Creatures in How to Fish
Every fish has a rare variant, and the game's own word for them is “drip”. Here is what is official and what is rumor.
What “drip” means (official)
The game's rare variants are officially called drip creatures in the achievements: Drip — “kill a drip creature” — and Fishipedia — “find and kill all drip creatures.” The store pitch backs the goal: collect the rare variant of all the different fish. The word does not appear in Dave the Diver or other fishing games — this is How to Fish-specific terminology. If a community uses “super creatures” or “endangered species” words for them, that is the same system.
How the bait hunt works since 1.1.3
- Open the Fishipedia entry of a creature you have already killed once.
- Read the bait the game now displays (patch 1.1.3, September 29, 2026).
- Hunt with that bait instead of older community tables.
- An entry you have not killed yet shows nothing — expect bait names to appear only after a first kill.
Drips named in official sources
- Drip Gar — the developers made a Drip Gar plush with Makeship (September 30, 2026 post), naming the variant officially.
- Drip parrotfish — fixed in the official patch 1.0.11 notes (“Fixed drip parrotfish not being cooked”).
- Other drips named around the community (seahorse, triggerfish, goldfish, goby and others) are referenced in player reports and pending verification in-game.
What is not verified
- The total number of drip creatures (community “61/62 Fishipedia slot” claims are unofficial).
- Per-drip rarity, spawn locations and guaranteed methods.
- Whether completion of all drips rewards anything beyond the Fishipedia achievement.
